The cause or trigger for illness is very often concealed. The trigger or underlying cause could be an event, ongoing pressure or stress that impacts any of the three levels of the human being – physical, mental or emotional level – leading to the three underlying causes of diseases.
Physical Causes
There is a huge list of physical causes. Here are some examples of causes that I have seen in my practice and the illnesses they led to:
– Conventional Medical drugs e.g. the contraceptive pill that led to an inability to reestablish the menstrual cycle or even causing many diseases due to its long list of side-effects. Suppression of symptoms of conventional meds.
Too often, I have seen the contraceptive pill leading to depression. Or and excessive antibiotics prescriptions leading to a life-threatening gut infections called Clostridium Difficile.
– Traumatic birth: that leading to night terrors, which then carried on into adulthood, and in other cases, to digestive problems. – Accident or physical injury: e.g. a head injury or many head injuries, a car accident that caused depression, or extreme cluster headaches. – Hormonal change e.g. puberty, menopause that caused anxiety, or in many cases – suicidal depression.
Mental & Emotional Causes
Mental and emotional causes of illnesses are often “invisible”, because conventional doctors and orthodox medicine are not trained to look for them or even take them into consideration. However in my work as a homeopath, I see more frequent mental and emotional causes than physical ones, regardless of whether the presenting complaints are physical or emotional.
Mental/emotional cause can be set off by an event or an ongoing situation, as in examples below:
– Fright or Shock: e.g. a woman who was very healthy and never had a health problem, then developed debilitating symptoms of anxiety or insomnia while pregnant which lasted long after the birth, because of the shock of losing a friend who died while in labour. In modern days of COVID, people developing intense fear of leaving the house, intense fear of contamination, paranoia.
– Grief and Loss: e.g. mother being admitted to a psychiatric warbeing sent to boarding school, which led to separation anxiety that carried on into into adulthood.
– Suppression of feelings: e.g. critical parenting that leads to anxiety and digestive issues in adulthood; and in other patients, fear of failure, lack of self esteem and insomnia.
– Deceit, Betrayal & humiliation: leading to arthritic disease.
– Mistreatment or Abuse: e.g.being in a relationship that is controlling and abusive, which led to recurrent urinary tract infections.
Most cases come with Multiple Causes
Sometimes the causes are what I call “buried, piled up in a hologram”.
For example: in one case, grief from love disappointment, from being heartbroken leading to depression and asthma which, when treated with antidepressants and inhalers, led to Chronic Fatigue, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and a pining person who was very much underweight.
The idea of Holistic Healing was born with German physician S. C. Hahnemann about 230 years ago.
Therefore in homeopathy, finding out the cause and treating it, is much more important than treating the symptoms only. Because once the cause is addressed with homeopathy, then the symptoms or illness will automatically get better on their own accord.
